It appears that Jon Batiste is steadfastly supporting Stephen Colbert, his former coworker.
The Grammy-winning artist, who was The Late Show’s bandleader and musical director from 2015 to 2022, supported the late-night host in an interview with Rolling Stone after the show’s ten-season finale was announced last month.
He started by saying, “What happened to my friend Stephen is a symptom of big money.”
“We should be very, very conscious of the fact that the right price can silence the voice of free speech in this day and age,” Jon continued. As artists, we must never stop fighting for the right to free expression and the freedom to express who we truly are.
