CHENGDU: Muhammad Asif of Pakistan easily advanced to the World Games snooker semifinals on Tuesday after defeating Zac Cosker of Britain 2-0 in their quarterfinal match.
After winning the first frame 79–15 with an incredible break of 51, Asif finished the match with a commanding 89–31 victory in the second frame.
He can fight for the bronze medal if he loses, but a victory in the semi-final will ensure a podium finish.
It is important to note that in the competition’s history, Pakistan has only taken home one medal. Shokat Ali, who took home the bronze at the 2001 World Games, won that one medal in snooker.
