ISLAMABAD: After a change in US and other policy, hundreds of Afghan citizens who had previously had steady occupations and positions in Afghanistan were compelled to stay in Pakistan when their aspirations to relocate to a third country subsided.
Many Afghans who came to Pakistan in August 2021 after the Taliban regained power are now unable to continue their journey because the United States and other nations changed their policy regarding refugees and asylum seekers.
Some 300 Afghan families are now residing in temporary housing at Argentina Park in Islamabad.
Samia, 24, of Baghlan City, is one among them. She left Afghanistan in February 2022 and is currently living with her Pakistani-born young son, Daniyal.
