The Odysseus robot from Houston-based Intuitive Machines touched down close to the lunar south pole.
After a few minutes, a signal was eventually received by the controllers indicating that the ship was down.
Flight director Tim Crain declared, “We are transmitting from the surface of the Moon, and we can confirm that without a doubt.”
When they heard the news, firm employees applauded and rejoiced.
It was a significant time for the US space program overall as well as for the commercial use of space.
The United States has been on the Moon for fifty years, but Intuitive Machines has brought them back. The last Apollo mission in 1972 is the only instance where American gear was seen slowly settling onto the lunar surface.
