It depicts the story of a family who chooses a last-minute vacation on Long Island rather than Brooklyn, where strange occurrences begin to unfold as a national emergency is declared on television.
Julia was horrified by a moment in the film in which one of Amanda’s teenage children, Archie, pulls his teeth out of his bloodied gums.
Gary Archer, the developer of the SPFX teeth, told the Daily Mail that his prosthetic work prompted the actress to plead with the crew to finish filming as quickly as possible.
“I had to be on set that day because the breaking teeth are held in place by wax, and I had to reset it for each take. Poor Julia Roberts, who has got a queasy stomach for dental gore, was sitting there as we’re doing take after take after take and she was hating it,” Gary recalled.
He further quoted her saying: “She’s like, ‘Can we be done? This is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen.’ I’m like, ‘I guess a career in the dental field is not for you, Julia.’”
