It’s a wild, sex-positive, club-ready ode to the pleasures of sensuality called Slut Pop Miami.
It was inspired by “hedonistic trips to Miami” and was released on Valentine’s Day. It follows in the tradition of explicit, transgressive pop music, which includes Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s WAP and Madonna’s Erotica.
“Pop has always been about raising questions and stirring up culture,” Petras tells the news.
The EP is the German-born celebrity’s third release since June of last year, which also includes the surprising release of her previously abandoned project Problématique and her first album Feed The Beast.
This surge of activity came after Petras featured on Sam Smith’s worldwide chart-topper Unholy, which made her the first transgender musician to win a major category Grammy and the first openly transgender artist to score a US number one.
Her big break came after years of arduous work. In an attempt to become a pop sensation, Petras bet on moving to Los Angeles after she began posting cover songs to MySpace in 2007.
“I played every gay club in America, I danced at every single bar, and I built my following from the ground up,” she claims.
