WhatsApp users are perplexed by a recent redesign that replaced recognizable blue and red icons with what some call ‘ugly’ green ones, however not all users are affected, according to The Sun (US).
Previously, the design for Android devices featured green icons, while iPhones had blue icons. However, iPhone users are suddenly seeing green symbols in their WhatsApp programs, a break from the conventional colour scheme.
Reports of this color switch first arose among iPhone users several months ago, but it appears to have spread to other users recently. A four-month-old Reddit thread captures people’ uncertainty and discontent.
One user, who characterized the shade as “ugly,” inquired, “OMG, is WhatsApp taking revenge or something?”
Latest complaints on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) indicate widespread discontent among users encountering the green icons in their messenger app.
Some express frustration and difficulty focusing due to the unexpected change, while others note that their icons have been green since the previous year, adding to the mystery.
