Nine out of the top ten most polluted cities in the world, according to a survey by the Swiss air-quality monitoring group news, are in India.
It claims that lung conditions, strokes, cancer, asthma, and other illnesses are related to particle pollution exposure. Additionally, it mentions how easier it is for PM2.5 to coat the lungs and even enter the bloodstream.
Delhi experiences bad air quality all year, but the winter months typically see the worst of it. Due to the poisonous air late last year, schools and universities were closed for many days.
To reduce air pollution, New Delhi implemented limits on the number of cars on the road in November. However, days later, haze covered cities in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India, forcing some businesses and schools to close.
