Wheelchair players play boccia. A target sport, it resembles boules in that players toss balls in the direction of a target.
McGuire competed for Great Britain in the Paralympics in London, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo, but he will have a difficult time getting to Paris in 2024.
Following his victory in the category at the end of 2021, which placed him second globally, McGuire sustained a broken leg and a fall at home that left him sidelined for eight months.
McGuire claims it has been challenging to rise back to the top, as boccia success depends on accuracy and the athlete’s confidence in their physique.
