Men’s and women’s local players from each county will be included in the videos to spread messages against discriminatory behavior.
All games, including England internationals, will feature messages.
The move comes as part of Sign Language Week.
As part of the campaign, Joel Harris and Jake Oakes from the England Deaf Team spent time teaching BSL to around 70 players from women’s regional teams and each of the counties at Edgbaston.
Harris played on the England squad that won the Deaf Ashes for the first time in 2022. Harris is a member of the Middleton Cricket Club in Greater Manchester.
“We’re not asking the players to be knowledgeable, but they’ve wanted to know more. They’ve learned their lines and some fundamentals from us, like the value of body language and face expressions in addition to hand movements. These are little but crucial details that help the deaf community feel accepted.”
