Some post-Brexit trade agreements, they claim, are allowing imports into the country that do not adhere to UK standards, so they are calling for their termination. Organised by the Kent Fairness for Farmers group and Save British Farming.
The group also claims that because there are insufficient import procedures in place, goods bearing the Union flag but not having been grown or raised in Britain are permitted entry into the country.
With banners hanging from their vehicles and farmers honking their horns to draw attention to their cause, the convoy of tractors and trailers that started the demonstration in downtown London’s New Covent Garden is now clogging the roads surrounding the parliament.
She went on: “This government was elected in 2019 with the promise to protect our standards and provide a pre-made agreement with the EU that would result in a boom in British agriculture.”
