Eleven candidates initially filed their nomination papers for the by-election, according to the Returning Officer’s confirmation. Only four candidates, including Aseefa Bhutto, got their papers accepted following examination, nevertheless.
The three contenders who were still standing against Ms. Bhutto withdrew their papers today.
This happened after Asif Zardari was elected President of Pakistan, leaving the NA-207 seat empty.
With her clear victory, Aseefa Bhutto is now the officially elected Member of Parliament for the NA-207 constituency.
