Mr. Towning claimed on social media in 2014 that he had gotten a call from one of the men who had attacked him six years prior.

You must understand that I need a little time and space. It is really hard for me to talk about the incident that left my security guy and me with critical injuries. He added, “Thank you for your consideration and kindness during this very trying time.”
Mr. Towning wrote: He claimed to have changed, that he was only 16 years old at the time, that his four and eight years in prison had transformed him into a new man, and that he was now settled down with a job.
Then he begged me to pardon him for his actions. I replied that yes, I did forgive him and that I have no ill will towards him, but that I had moved on, had my jaw and teeth fixed, and that life goes on.
