The prime minister with the shortest tenure in the nation stated that she spoke with her Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng about dismantling the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), but ultimately came to the conclusion that doing so would have been tantamount to declaring war on the financial establishment.
Ms. Truss claims that the OBR, Treasury, and Bank of England “were more interested in balancing the books than growing the economy” and that they “saw immigration as a way of fixing the public finances” in a passage from her memoir that was published in the Daily Mail.
