An XR Virtual Reality Lab is located in a hangar at West Suffolk College in Bury St. Edmunds.
Built with government support, this futuristic-looking £2 million pod employs artificial intelligence (AI) to generate virtual 3D worlds that students can access through tablets or headsets, drawing them deeper into their studies. Also, it “gamifies” the material to keep pupils interested.
Most people, in Mr. Savvas’ opinion, learn best by doing.
“We put this to the test on elementary school kids. Students were required to write about ancient Egypt after receiving a standard education about it.
“After that, they received a headset that let them explore the pyramids virtually. Their joyous shrieks should have been audible to you.
“When they wrote about Egypt for a second time, the difference was incredible.”
