Laura Trott did not refute a report in The News stating that, as the Home Office has been unable to locate an airline prepared to carry them, migrants may need to be flown to the country in east Africa on RAF Voyagers.
The minister for the Treasury cited comments made by her Home Office colleague Laura Farris on Tuesday in response to a query from News regarding the person who would transport asylum seekers to Rwanda. The government is “operationally close to being ready,” according to Farris.
Ms. Trott went on, “I think I am going to say the same thing that she said to you yesterday.”
Asked if RAF Voyagers would be used, she said, “We will be ready for flights to take off in the spring when the legislation passes.”
