According to News Australia, Pledger, 30, was scheduled to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where he was charged with assaulting a woman.
He was sought for a “assault-related matter,” according to a statement from the force, which also expressed hope that “someone may be able to provide information on his current whereabouts.”
According to the police, he was “approximately 170cm [5ft, 6in] tall with brown hair and a tanned complexion” and was known to frequent the Northcote suburb of north Melbourne as well as the surroundings.
Craig McMahon, Pledger’s manager, told the Sydney Morning Herald that although he hadn’t spoken to his client this week, he was taken aback by the assault claims.
Mr. McMahon revealed to the newspaper that his client had long-term mental health problems.
