In 2007, Madeleine went missing while on vacation in Portugal’s Algarve, in one of the most well-known missing person cases in British history.
When Madeleine, then three years old, vanished on May 3, Gerry and Kate McCann had left her in bed with her twin siblings while they were out to supper with friends at a local restaurant in Praia da Luz.
The McCanns, of Rothley, Leicestershire, posted a statement on the official Find Madeleine website stating: “It’s been 17 years since Madeleine was taken from us.”
Even uttering that figure makes us shake our heads in shock.”
It was revealed earlier this week that Scotland Yard will get an additional £192,000 in funds from the Home Office to support the investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance.
