Following the referee’s decision to stop the fourth of the fight’s six scheduled rounds on Sunday, paramedics attended to Sherif Lawal immediately.
He was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital following his ambulance ride there.
The 29-year-old British boxer had been defeated by Portuguese fighter Malam Varela at the Harrow Leisure Center in nortWarren Boxing.
Lawal “collapsed” during the bout, according to a post on Instagram by Warren Boxing Management.
Tyson Fury, a heavyweight, remarked: “May God rest his soul. You enter there and are compensated for taking risks. We’re there to punch each other in the head and body to inflict injury, but sadly, things like this are happening now.
