His kidnappers released the self-proclaimed “Crypto King” after three days, but Mr Pleterski was threatened and forced to come up with some money quickly, according to court filings.
“I’m sorry, I really am; I didn’t want to or mean to ruin anyone’s life,” a bruised and wounded Mr. Pleterski says in a video acquired by News. His lawyer later stated that the video was recorded during the kidnapping.
It wasn’t the first or last time the young Canadian man who branded himself as a crypto expert promised “savvy investments” ran into difficulty.
This week, after a 16-month investigation, Ontario police and the provincial securities commission revealed Mr Pleterski had it.
