After South Africa requested that judges order Israel to cease operations in Rafah and withdraw entirely from Palestinian land, Israel defended the military necessity of its Gaza war at the International Court of Justice on Friday.
South Africa’s lawsuit accusing Israel of breaking the Genocide Convention was described as “completely divorced from facts and circumstances” by Israeli Justice Ministry official Gilad Noam.
“(The case) makes a mockery of the heinous charge of genocide,” Noam stated.
