The limitation on energy prices, which sets a maximum amount that can be charged per unit of energy, is scheduled to expire the following month.
Thus, houses are now spending £484 more on energy than they did three years ago.
The cap on energy prices is now set at £1,690 per year for a typical bill, valid from April 1 to June 30.
The cap is set four times a year by the energy regulator Ofgem, with the most recent announcement being effective from July to September.
April saw a decrease in the total rate of inflation, largely as a result of the current higher cap going into force that month.
