Due to an age-related illness, Richard M. Sherman, one half of the award-winning duo of brothers who wrote over 150 songs for Disney, passed away on Saturday at the age of 95.
With the 1964 smash film Mary Poppins, Sherman and his brother Robert took home two Academy Awards: best score and best song for Chim Chim Cher-ee.
Additionally, they won a Grammy for best TV or movie score. Robert Sherman, 86, passed away in London in 2012.
As co-lyricists and composers, they have hundreds of credits in the following films: Winnie the Pooh, The Slipper and the Rose, Snoopy Come Home, Charlotte’s Web, and The Magic of Lassie.
