Queen Camilla will continue to promote literacy by launching her own podcast series. On January 8th, Camilla will discuss books and literature in the eight-episode series The Queen’s Reading Room.
Camilla offers advice on reading to her grandchildren in the first episode. While she acknowledged that she enjoyed the Harry Potter series, she acknowledged that, in contrast to her husband, King Charles, who “does it brilliantly” and “can do all the voices,” she was “hopeless” at voice acting. Camilla claims that Charles’s superb impressions leave their grandchildren “spellbound.”.
“I think the one I enjoyed reading more than anything else was Harry Potter… all the stories.‌”
“I can’t mimic voices for money or love,” she declared. I’m utterly useless at it. I never could get the hang of mimicking, and I was a terrible actor in school.”
“Sometimes, when we are with my husband in Scotland, he reads them Harry Potter,” she continued, complimenting Charles’ abilities. He is an excellent mimic, so he performs every voice.”
Camilla started her Queen’s Reading Room project as an Instagram bookclub, and now it has grown to include a podcast. It has developed into a legitimate nonprofit that funds literacy initiatives. Hampton Court Palace hosts an annual literature festival, among other events.
The author’s interviews and Camilla’s analysis will be featured in every episode. Peter James, a crime writer, is included in the premiere. Camilla is a patron of many organizations that promote reading, library building, and book engagement with young people.
