After going for an independent stroll from Saint Nikolas Beach in the middle of the Greek island of Symi on Wednesday, Mosley vanished and sparked a search.
A video crew discovered his body on Sunday near a network of caves next to Agia Marina, some ten meters out to sea.
As accolades came in for the doctor who popularized the 5:2 diet and championed public health, his wife, Dr. Clare Mosley, said she found solace in the fact that “he so very nearly made it”.
In addition to being called “a national treasure,” Mosley’s co-presenter on Trust Me, I’m A Doctor, Dr. Saleyha Ahsan, expressed how much the news, with whom he was most recognized, will miss him.
“He had this talent to engage,” Dr. Ahsan said to News. It was because there was trust, not only because they were celebrities.
His employment was a way of life for him. He served as an example. “I detest using the word ‘was’ to describe this inspiration.”
“His entertaining and accessible style was enjoyed by audiences around the world and he will be hugely missed by many people, not least those fortunate enough to have worked with him at the news,” stated Charlotte Moore, chief content officer for the news, in the meantime.
