The Leicester group recently released a new song called “Tears,” but they also acknowledged that the “last nine months have not been easy” in an Instagram post. A segment of the video was posted on social media.
The musicians announced in October that they would be changing their name.
It happened after they claimed that easyGroup had sued them for having too similar of a name.
The band claimed the lawsuit made clear that they had utilized, among other things, an easyJet-like orange and white plane picture for their Life’s A Beach tour.
The founder and chairman of easyGroup, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, called them “brand thieves” in a statement at the time.
The band had wanted to defend the case, claiming it would cost hundreds of millions of pounds, but they were forced to accept defeat when they realized it was really a case of “David vs. Goliath – and our British legal system favours Goliath”.
Many fans offered to support a crowdfunder to raise money for legal fees. Their supporters, who included fellow musicians like Professor Green, Arlo Parks, and Mahalia, several MPs, UK Music chair and former deputy Labour leader Tom Watson, and Tom Gray, the chair of the Ivors Academy, argued that any similarities were harmless and lighthearted.
