Her son Thomas Dutronc, whom she shared with her ex-husband, the French music star Jacques Dutronc, posted a picture of herself as a baby on Instagram, captioning it “Maman est partie,” which means “Mum is gone.” Hardy initially gained notoriety in 1962 with her debut single Tous Les Garcons Et Les Filles (All The Girls And Boys), in which she bemoaned her single status.
Dylan, in the meantime, wrote her multiple love letters and included a poem on the back of his 1964 album, Another Side of Bob Dylan, that was addressed to her.
Her biggest UK hit, “All Over the World,” was an English song she published in 1965. It spent 15 weeks in the top 20 on the UK charts.
She put out nearly 30 albums over her career, and in 2023 Rolling Stone placed her 162nd out of the 200 best singers of all time.
