Did Goldy Brar die in Fresno, California? Brar, whose real name was Satinderjeet Singh Brar, was believed to have died in last week’s drive-by shooting. Rapper Siddhu Moosewala was slain in 2022, according to a video that the aptly called Goldy admitted to having done, but the Fresno police claimed that Moosewala had not. It was a different person.
It got me thinking whether there had been a case of mistaken identity. That was, in some way, very fitting for Moosewala, a rapper. Although he was slain quite effectively, the retaliation-seeking well-wishers were likely a rabble-rousing group who could have easily killed the wrong man even if they hadn’t.
Though I’m positive that wasn’t his family. His parents will be too preoccupied with caring for Siddhu’s IVF-conceived younger brother in March. Mother was fifty-eight, father sixty. Since the three of them were in India, they were not involved in the incident.
Even though Syed Me Anjum Nisar’s death was not violent, it nonetheless came as a greater shock than that of Siddhu Moosewala or the Goldy Brar lookalike. Anjum Nisar had retired from his position as head of the English Department at what is now GCU, but I got the impression that he was a youthful instructor there, endearing himself to us students with his robust voice and hail-fellow-well-met demeanor.
