Herschel “Guy” Beahm, also known online as Dr. DisRespect, had amassed over four million Twitch followers prior to the abrupt removal of his channel in 2020.
He had barely reached halfway through the platform’s two-year exclusive agreement.
The 42-year-old Beahm has already addressed the suspension to his X followers, asking: “Were there any Twitch Whisper chats sent in 2017 involving a single minor? Yes, is the response.
The website has a chat feature called Twitch Whisper.
Beahm’s statement went on, “The answer is absolutely not that these messages were sent with real intentions.”
The justification was revealed on X after a former Twitch employee shared a contentious message.
The clarification follows the release on Friday of an incendiary post on X by a former Twitch staffer, which seemed to include Beahm even though it didn’t mention him by name.
Before last year, Cody Conners was a member of Twitch’s strategic partnerships team. He wrote: “He got banned because he got caught sexting a kid in the Twitch Whispers software that was in use at the time. He attempted to get in touch with her during TwitchCon.”While acknowledging that he sent “inappropriate” messages to a youngster, one of Twitch’s most popular former streamers maintains that he is “no f***ing predator or paedophile”.
