The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) gazette announced that groundwater will no longer be available to Karachi residents and businesses for free, just like electricity.
Water will also be metered going forward; a gazette notice has been published.
The local administration will keep an eye on the extraction, usage, and sale of water from the ground.
The Karachi Division and the territories around it will be notified.
Corporations, commercial use, lodging, and educational institutions are all included, according to the announcement. High-rise buildings, apartments, flats, and residential complexes will all be covered by the notice.
The gazette notice states that “only individual residential houses will be free to use groundwater.”
Significant information was disclosed during the discussion with Mayor Karachi’s Council of Economic and Energy Journalists.
