Following the first round of voting on Sunday, National Rally emerged victorious with 33.14% of the vote, while the left-wing New Popular Front coalition came in second place with 27.99%. The interior ministry of France reports that the ensemble, which comprises President Emmanuel Macron’s Renaissance party, lagged behind on 20.76%.

The outcome puts National Rally in a strong position to take the majority in the lower chamber of parliament in France, nearly doubling its 18% victory from the 2022 elections.
