With a two-day overall score of 117.225, American Biles, 27, guaranteed her spot for the US Olympic trials on Sunday in Minneapolis.
After competing in Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020, Biles will be competing in her third Olympics in Paris.
She won a silver and a bronze at the Tokyo Games, but her experience was unsatisfactory because she experienced “twisties,” a mental block that gymnasts refer to as such. She withdrew from various events in order to put her mental health and safety first.
After the 2020 Olympics, Biles—who took home four gold medals and one silver—paused competition until making a comeback in 2023.
She has since won two national championships, three more world golds, and her sixth all-around world crown.
After the performances in Tokyo, I knew I wasn’t done, Biles remarked.
All I needed to do was return to the gym, work hard, and have faith in the process. I had no doubt I’d return.
‘Ready for It?’ by Taylor Swift opened Biles’ routine. The Grammy-winning artist said on X: I’ve seen this numerous times and I’m still not ready. But she’s prepared for it.
Biles continued, “I think my team talks to her team sometimes and it has been really sweet because I have met her a couple of times.”
Along with Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee, and Biles, the US women’s gymnastics team is complete and will compete at the Olympics this summer.
