Notice has been taken by the Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) of Hasan Iqbal Chishti’s viral video “Othy Dance Kardi Payi Ae,” which makes derogatory remarks about females’ education.
The National Commission for Women’s Dignity’s chairperson, Nilofar Bakhtiar, voiced her extreme dismay at the film and called its content abhorrent.
Chairperson Bakhtiar demanded harsh punishment against those in charge of making and disseminating the film on social networking sites in a statement released today.
She pleaded with the Cybercrime FIA to look into the situation right away and prosecute those responsible. Furthermore, Bakhtiar underlined the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) oversight of the prompt removal from social media of any post disparaging girls’ education.
Chairperson Bakhtiar said, “This incident is deeply concerning, coming on the heels of our National Conference for Women’s Education.” “Denying girls and women their fundamental right to education goes against the very principles enshrined in our Constitution.”
In addition, Chairperson Bakhtiar emphasized the significance of religious experts speaking out against such regressive attitudes and encouraged the Council of Islamic Ideology to categorically repudiate Hassan Iqbal Chishti’s conduct.
