ISLAMABAD: As the Supreme Court’s hearing on convict Zahir Jaffer’s appeal against his death sentence in the Noor Mukadam murder case continued Monday, Justice Hashim Kakar said that a “girl was brutally murdered.”
In the well-known case, the appeal was considered by a three-member bench led by Justice Kakar and consisting of Justices Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Ali Baqar Najafi.
“Judges must be willing to bear some pain,” Justice Kakar added throughout the hearing. We shouldn’t accept an appeal for a preliminary hearing only to ignore it later. Death row inmates will no longer be kept there for ten years.
“Our system is such that parties know everything,” noted Justice Najafi, adding that all the facts are known to the parties.
