In view of the ongoing impasse between India and Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, the foreign minister and deputy prime minister, has arrived in Beijing for a three-day official visit to address the regional situation.
Senior government officials greeted the deputy prime minister and his delegation at the airport after his private plane touched down in the Chinese capital.
Following the truce between India and Pakistan, this visit also represents the first high-level interaction between China and Pakistan. The Chinese government has invited Ishaq Dar to visit China.
Dar will have a crucial meeting with Wang Yi, his Chinese colleague, while he is in Beijing. A variety of bilateral and regional topics as well as the complex Pakistan-China relationship are anticipated to be discussed.
