People have been warned by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) about scammers who pose as government agencies and use phony websites to collect data.
The HEC posted a short video along with the following message on X: “Public Alert: Scammers are impersonating HEC & using fake sites to steal info.” HEC never requests bank account information, passwords, or OTPs. Inform us of any questionable activities.
The HEC clarified in the video that the department never “asks for OTPs (one-time passwords), passwords, or bank details” or “calls you for payment attestation.”
Additionally, the education commission warned the public to avoid phony websites and scam calls. It advised people not to give crooks their bank account information or personal information.
