Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales are “very important” to “reset relations” with, according to the UK’s next leader.
On Sunday, he began his tour of the capitals of the devolved nations by going to Edinburgh. On Monday, he went to Belfast and Cardiff.
On Monday morning, Sir Keir met with Michelle O’Neill, the first minister of Northern Ireland, and her deputy, Emma Little-Pengelly. Following this, he held discussions with representatives from the five major Stormont parties.
Stormont’s power-sharing deal was restored in February following a turbulent two years of deadlock over post-Brexit trading arrangements, but the trade accord continues to be a source of contention for it.
