With the commencement of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Gwadar is getting ready to become a thriving hub for international trade. With the completion of several massive projects, the port city is now well-positioned for substantial economic growth.
Key CPEC projects in Gwadar that have been completed include:
- The $230 million New Gwadar International Airport
- $179 million for the East Bay Expressway
- $300 million for Gwadar Port
- $100 million China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital
- The $10 million Gwadar Vocational Training Center
- $12.7 million for the Gwadar Water Desalination Plant
Furthermore, two 2,281-acre free zones have been formed. Additionally, 1,065 acres of the Green Palms Gwadar housing plan have been built.
These initiatives, which will cost over $800 million in total, should strengthen Gwadar’s infrastructure and economic potential and open the door for its emergence as a major regional trade hub.
