This multi-year arrangement is the most recent one that OpenAI has made with significant media companies.
Technology businesses are interested in the information created by media organizations because they may use it to train their AI (Artificial Intelligence) models.
A few media companies, such as the Chicago Tribune and the News, have objected to this and filed lawsuits to defend their material.
Condé Nast and OpenAI withheld the financial details of their partnership.
Brad Lightcap, the chief operating officer of OpenAI, stated, “We’re committed to working with Condé Nast and other news publishers to ensure that, as AI plays a larger role in news discovery and delivery, it maintains accuracy, integrity, and respect for quality reporting.”
The emergence of social media and other digital platforms has presented challenges to the financial models of news media organizations.
Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch stated, “Our partnership with OpenAI begins to make up for some of that revenue, allowing us to continue to protect and invest in our journalism and creative endeavors.”
