The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has predicted rain in the majority of the province’s districts for the next 24 hours as the area struggles with a low-level flood situation in the Indus River.
While the water flow in the Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, and Sutlej rivers is normal, PDMA DG Irfan Ali reports that the authorities and local administrations are on high alert because of the possibility of floods in the hilly areas.
“Yesterday, moderate to high-level floodwaters passed through Pattuk and Suri North, but the situation in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan river hills has returned to normal,” the official stated.
Residents in flood-prone areas had already been moved to safer areas in preparation of rising seas.
