It’s a strange inclination to observe it and criticize it,” the woman remarked. “I find it intriguing how much people enjoy labeling women.”
Winslet stated that the subject is one that warrants discussion.
“Life is too brief,” she continued. “It’s not something I want to regret later, so guess what? I’m not worried about that thing anymore.”
The 48-year-old Winslet has always supported women’s rights and has publicly denounced body shaming.
Winslet recently said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK that she was urged on the set of Lee to sit up straighter in order to cover her “belly rolls.”
Winslet mentioned a scene in which Lee is seen wearing a bikini and sitting on a seat. In between shots, a crew member approached and suggested that I should sit up straighter. So my tummy rolls are invisible to you? Never in your life! It was planned.
When asked if she felt uncomfortable being “less-than-perfect” on screen, Winslet said, “The opposite.” Because it is my life on display and that matters, I am proud of it. I would never think to hide that.
With every year that goes by, I feel more at ease with myself. She said, “It allows me to let other people’s opinions fade.”
