Justice Qazi Faez Isa, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), has stated that there is now transparency in the Supreme Court’s operations, unlike in the past when one might infer the outcome of a case just by observing the judges’ reactions. It is now up to each individual to determine which bench will hear their case; the chief justice is not issued a cause list.
During a full court reference on Monday, CJP Isa gave a thorough speech that gave a thoughtful summary of his just finished first year in office. He emphasized the value of openness in the judiciary and highlighted important judicial reforms.
He mentioned that he would have served as Pakistan’s chief justice for a full year in just nine days.
