According to Ahsan Iqbal, the federal minister for planning, development, and special initiatives, Pakistan suffered damages totaling $30 billion as a result of the floods in 2022. With $10.9 billion in pledges made thus far, against the estimated $16.2 billion in recovery needs, there is a $17.1 billion financial gap.
At the Policy and Strategy Committee (PSC) and Oversight Board’s fourth meeting, which was centered on post-flood rehabilitation activities, Iqbal offered these observations.
The UN resident coordinator, the UNDP resident representative, the EU deputy head of mission, chief secretaries from every province, the secretary of economic affairs, the secretary of planning, country directors from the World Bank, and senior officials from the Planning Commission were present at the meeting.
