In February of this year, Kristina Joksimovic, 38, was discovered dead in her Binningen, Switzerland, house close to Basel.
A man called Thomas, 41, apparently confessed to killing his wife, with whom he had two children, but the Federal Court in Lausanne on Wednesday rejected his petition for release from detention, according to local news site BZ Basel.
According to the site, he had acknowledged the murder during a crime reconstruction in March and had stated that he had killed her in self-defense after she had stabbed him.
According to BZ Basel, the court found that Ms. Joksimovic died from strangulation. The body of Ms. Joksimovic was subsequently dismembered in a laundry room using a jigsaw, a knife, and garden shears, according to an autopsy report that was part of the decision.
After being diced up with a hand mixer, the extra body parts were “pureed” and dissolved in a chemical solution.
According to BZ Basel, Thomas first told detectives he had discovered Ms. Joksimovic dead and had mutilated her body in their laundry room out of fear. He was then detained the day after her body was discovered.
