RAWALPINDI: While reporting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) scheduled protest in Rawalpindi for News, Haider Sherazi was physically assaulted by local police and placed under arrest.
Sherazi was reporting on the protest of the former ruling party at the Islamabad toll plaza when PTI members and workers engaged in combat with the police. Rizwan Shah, the cameraman, also suffered injuries.
The journalist again identified himself to the accused police officers, but they continued to beat him and the other journalists and took their cell phones.
Sherazi was tortured by the police, resulting in injuries to his head and face.
When the media filmed PTI protestors opening a blocked route after defying the police, the cops on duty beat them up.
