For a period of six days, from October 3 to October 8, the Punjab government has enforced Section 144 in Lahore, which prohibits protests and demonstrations due to security concerns.
In the provincial capital, from Thursday, October 3, until Tuesday, October 8, all political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, protests, and demonstrations were forbidden by Section 144, according to the announcement.
According to the announcement, upholding Section 144’s enforcement aims to safeguard people’s lives and property while also preserving peace and order. Because of security concerns, the administration thought that public gatherings might become easy targets for terrorists.
The province Home Department stated that the district administration’s recommendations were the foundation for the decision to implement Section 144 and that broad public education campaigns about its implementation had been mandated.
