On Saturday evening, while investigating a reef, HMNZS Manawanui ran aground one nautical mile off the Samoan island of Upolu. Later on, it caught fire and blew up.
The New Zealand Defence Force said in a statement that all 75 passengers were taken off the ship, placed aboard lifeboats, and saved early on Sunday.
Authorities are currently determining the cause of the accident and estimating any possible environmental harm from the disaster.
“A court of inquiry has been established to determine the reason behind this horrific event,” stated Judith Collins, the first female defense minister of New Zealand.
The gender of the ship’s skipper is the one thing we already know did not contribute to it.”
Collins expressed her disgust at seeing “armchair admirals, people who will never have to make decisions which mean life or death for their subordinates” engage in internet trolling.
I really wondered in 2024, she said, “what the hell is going on with people who are sitting there in their armchair using a keyboard and making comments about people they do not know, about an area they do not know, and they are just vile?” Where is some common sense?
Collins claimed that in the last several days, there had been abuse of ladies in uniform on the street.
