Despite the fact that immunization can prevent the disease, over 100 children in Karachi have died from diphtheria this year as a result of the lack of Diphtheria Anti-Toxin (DAT), an official from the Sindh health department revealed on Saturday.
In the megalopolis, the number of instances of diphtheria and the number of children who die from the illness has increased dramatically.
Referrals for all cases of diphtheria were made to the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH).
52 of the 140 cases that the SIDH received last year were not able to be completed, according to the provincial health official. However, they said that more than ten children were receiving care at the hospital right now.
But the Sindh Health Department later stated that just 28 children, not 100, disappeared after this article was published.
