When the petitioners asked for their cases to be withdrawn, the Supreme Court of Pakistan decided cases contesting a proposed constitutional amendment.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa presided over a three-judge bench that heard the case.
Six members of the Bar Council, including Abid Zuberi, filed the applications. Hamid Khan, their attorney, came before the court and asked that the petitions be withdrawn.
Chief Justice Isa questioned the need for legal representation if Abid Zuberi could have handled the petition withdrawal on his own. In addition, the Chief Justice mentioned that there was already a different petition with objections pending.
After the attorney confirmed that the two petitions would be withdrawn, the cases were dismissed by the Supreme Court.
