The 4,320 MW Dasu Hydropower Project has experienced major delays, according to the World Bank, as a result of limitations on international workers’ ground transit and a lack of armored vehicles.
The World Bank recently sent a team to evaluate the progress of this multibillion-dollar project, starting on September 2, 2024.
World Bank staff met with officials from the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) and the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) during the mission to discuss support for the Dasu Hydropower Stage I Project (DHP-I). The Dasu Transmission Line and the Dasu Hydropower Project are both part of this project.
The World Bank Board of Executive Directors authorized additional funding totaling $1 billion in June 2024.
